yesyesBD at the Chip Shop Awards
Last week yesyesBD attended the Chip Shop Awards, an awards show set up by The Drum magazine to celebrate creativity without the constraints of clientele review. This, yesyesBD’s first year at the awards, saw the agency nominated for an award in the category of “Best Use of Alternative Media Space”
The entry concept, dubbed ‘Spread the Happy” and featuring the Nutella brand was thought up by our Creative Director, Jamie Cartledge.
Jamie describes the thought behind the entry “Every so often you get one of those ridiculous ideas, the kind that gets you all excited about how cool and creative it is before you realise that you could never run it in a million years. That was exactly what the Nutella idea was for me, it randomly hit me one day and it made me giggle.”
The concept, at its core an overly sophisticated poo joke, was enough to earn the agency a commendation in the category, which came in the form of Vinegar Award. The agency was also winner of the #chipshopcomp competition hosted by We Are Boutique while at the awards, walking away with a selection of Jagermeister related prizes.
The entry itself was almost a forgotten idea, jamie explains “I was just about to send this idea back down to the dark depths of my brain, where all those other ideas that could never be used are shipped to, when one of our team suggested the chip shop awards. It was great to receive a commendation for an idea that almost never was. I have a million and one thank you’s for the Chip Shop Awards for allowing ideas like this to live and even more so, to Nutella for not suing me”
